It's a wrap! Our annual #reward event was a resounding success, with a fully packed KPMG Belgium auditorium and a lot of engaging topics. Over 150 participants walked away with several key takeaways, including: 🚘 More and fewer company cars: The mobility budget is becoming a staple in compensation packages, yet we also see an increase in the number of cafeteria plan cars, with a lot of attention points for electric cars and the chargings stations. 💰 Flexible Reward remains highly trending, with #multimedia being the most popular benefit. Other trends include car upgrades, charging stations, and insurance. ⚧️ Increased pay & reward #transparency: Preparations for the new EU Transparency Directive need to start urgently. A Total Reward Statement could be a good first step. We also shared insights from our Spanish colleagues, where reporting obligations have been in place for much longer. Data is key! ⚡ Withholding tax reductions are certainly not just a tick-the-box exercise. Additional measures, such as the 'bis-regime,' make creating a solid #defense file crucial. Selling innovation is always counter-intuitive! I was thrilled to meet another Lifescience gem from Belgium. Under the leadership of the founder, BENOIT GRANIER, Unisensor has brought forward a steady streams of innovations in the last two decades. Their vision is to provide peace of mind in food by bringing smart diagnostic solutions from the laboratory to the field. I was very happy to be invited in their Q4 sales meeting where they got their entire salesforce together from Europe, the Middle-East, Asia and the Americas. The question of the day: are they successfully monetizing their most recent innovations and what else could they do to further improve? Turning the question into a highly interactive workshop was a great use of the time all together. The workshop has created energy, fun and new opportunities for further improvements. Many thanks to the Unisensor team for their warm welcome and the energy they have put into the workshop! For most technology intensive companies I work with, selling innovation is counter-intuitive: rushing in the market to explain what your innovation is all about will lead to poor results. Instead, your immediate objective is not to talk about you and your innovation but well to trigger an environnement of change at your customers, starting from where they are. First, you need to make sure your customers are convinced it is important, urgent and complex for them to change their current way of working. Important? The status quo is not an option for them, it is much too painful! Urgent? The change needs to happen now! They have been waiting for much too long, they have to « stop the bleeding » immediately. Complex? The change is difficult to execute. There are important risks and they don’t have all expertise to deliver on the desired change. Once the convinction for change is strong enough, you can position your innovative solution as a way to address the complexity of the change. When selling innovations, you need to sell the change which will lead to your solution. This is very different from selling your solution and will often require sales team behaviour adaptations. Context continues to change rapidly; ·        As much about people as about processes and tools; ·        The way to manage is through collaboration, partnerships and stakeholder management. In front of all these challenges (healthcare, (cyber)security, sustainability, shifting policies), let us not be complacent, continue to learn and ask the right questions.
